Mocha FTP Server

Postby mpg187 » Sun Sep 06, 2009 2:24 pm

I have Mocha FTP Server installed on my Phone and it's awesome, I can connect my phone to my home Wifi, run the server on my phone and then access my phone wirelessly on my computer(s) connected to my LAN using any FTP client.

Best of all it's FREEWARE. Notice, it may not appear to be freeware as it asks for registration, but it is. You use this serial:

Name:
Freeware
Serial: 111425

Using File Explorer on a Pocket PC, you can map a network share on your PC and transfer files that way, too.

But that way I have to move the files to a shared folder on my computer and then go on my phone and move the files, with FTP I do everything on my computer as long as the server is running.

Plus if I want to transfer between two PDAs...

If you just share the entire disk (or disks), you don't have to move the files to the shared folder. You probably would have to navigate the PC folders from your phone, but if you have the phone and aren't near the PC, that's better. It all depends where you are.

Yeah, but you hadn't mentioned that here.... ;) Plus, that solution doesn't seem to be working for you.

Regardless, I was just letting people know of an alternative solution that doesn't require using any extra software. If using FTP works for you, though, that's cool.

I guess. Windows shares the whole drive automatically as C$ for C:\. Weird how when you try to share the root of a drive in Windows it warns you that it's not a good security practice, yet it shares the drive itself as a hidden share, and even shares the Windows folder as SystemRoot$ (or something like that) so even if you change your Windows installation folder an intruder can access it without knowing the name.

FTP does work but not the way it should.

It's good to have alternatives though too for when I can use them.

I would like to SMB into my NSLU but I can't do that
