I am still working on the post there. When I am done, I'll copy and paste it here...

Yes, Windows Phone 7 is well known to be nothing like Windows Mobile. While it will run on Windows CE, it won't be compatible with existing applications, it won't have multi-tasking, it won't have copy/paste, you won't be able to load software from anywhere other than the Microsoft app store, etc. It sounds like Microsoft's attempt to copy the iPhone -- the 2008 iPhone 3G.

As for your article, please just link to it. There's no need to copy and paste it here when it's so easy to follow a link. That's what the Web is all about. :D

Damn I didn't know they were gonna lock you to thier market place. WP7 sucks more than I thought it would.

Anyways, if I post something here and on my site, can you please post on both? (If you post on OP420 then I will be reminded to come here)

I'll probably check it out if a WP7 phone is released on Verizon, but from what I've heard, I doubt that I'll buy one. Microsoft has said they'll "support" WM 6.5, but I'm not sure what that means exactly. If OEMs still release WM 6.5 phones, maybe I'll get one of those.

I'm not sure what you mean about posting on both sites. If you post a link to your site, and the article there has something that I want to comment on, I'll post the comment on your site. If you post the entire article here, I'll probably just comment here. I post where the text is and where it's easiest. :) Unless I'm advertising, I generally don't believe in posting the same text in two different places.

For example I posted this thread here and on my forum, so could you reply on both forums?

As posted on OP420

it won't be compatible with existing applications, it won't have multi-tasking, it won't have copy/paste, you won't be able to load software from anywhere other than the Microsoft app store
Those are like the only things that make Windows Mobile any good. Without them it's crap.

If you are possibly switching to Android would you make an Android section on this forum?

Actually, that's as posted here. I just copied part of that to your site. ;)

No. More likely, if I did anything, I'd start another site and another forum. Possibly the site would be Android-only, or maybe it would be a generic PDA/smart phone site (as if we don't have enough of those) and I'd make this forum a part of that. Or maybe I'd generalize it more to any mobile devices, including things like eBook readers (I now have a Kindle) and mobile gaming. Who knows?

But that's only a future possibility that I haven't really thought about, plus it's off-topic, so let's stick to WP7 in this topic (and Windows Mobile in general). I hope that I won't have to decide for another year or two. ;)

The part I quoted on OP is from here, but my response to you is from OP.

About Android and portable devices, what do you mean? You would make a whole new site? Why not just use this one, all the posts and accounts are already here and the topics here could just be moved to the Windows Mobile Section... I don't wanna have to make a new account...

Yes, I would probably make a new site. SV Pocket PC makes no sense for an Android or general mobile device site name. In fact, the term "Pocket PC" is even outdated by Microsoft's many name changes. I bought winmo.info (that just redirects to SV Pocket PC now) a while back to modernize the site name and get a catchier domain and even that's already outdated because Microsoft is now calling them "Windows Phones".

If I did create a new mobile device site, you wouldn't have to do anything; I'd just redirect stuff here to the new forum and make the Windows Mobile stuff a new Category there. If I ever created a separate Android site, I probably would have a separate forum, but who knows?

Anyway, I have no plans on doing either in the near future (look how far I've gotten on WinMo.info :D) and would prefer not to speculate on what might not even happen. Let's at least wait to see what Windows Phone 7 is like and what Microsoft does with Windows Mobile 6.5 before we discuss new sites.... :)

No matter what happens, I'll keep the SV Pocket PC domain and content around.
